Scrolute
Draft for the private test. These terms will be reviewed by a lawyer before Scrolute opens to the public.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026. Operator: Scrolute (a project in private testing). Contact: support@scrolute.com.

What we collect

Your email address; the links you save and any note you add; the text we fetch from those links where the source allows it (see the table in the README), and a transcript of any audio or video file or text read from any screenshot you share, which is used only to write the summary and is then deleted, so no word-for-word transcript is kept; the summary fields made from that text (title, summary, type, action, deadline); links and saved dates you choose to import from your own Instagram or TikTok data download (the file is read in your browser and only the links, dates and account names are sent); your time zone; reminders you schedule; and, only if you connect a calendar link or file, the start and end times of your busy periods (no titles, guests or locations). You can disconnect and remove them in Settings. We do not store videos, images or audio belonging to others. An uploaded file is held in memory only to be transcribed and is then discarded.

If you join the beta waitlist, we keep your email and what you said you save most, to send your invite; and, only if you tick the box, occasional updates, each with an unsubscribe link that we honour within 10 working days.

Why

To provide the service you asked for: remembering what you saved, summarising it, and reminding you. We do not sell data, show ads, or use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

When you use Ask on the Saved page, your question and the summaries of your own saves are sent to our AI provider (Google Vertex AI) to produce the answer. They are not kept by us beyond your saves themselves, and the question is not stored.

Scrolute records basic usage events, such as what was saved and from which platform, its category, and whether plans were done, to run and improve the service and to measure the private test. They hold no links, notes, transcripts or summaries, are never sold, are not sent to any third-party analytics service, and are deleted with your account.

Outside services (processors)

Content you save is sent to the first two to produce results, under their paid business terms, which do not allow them to train their models on it. If a service is listed as not yet active, nothing is sent to it.

Google Calendar (optional)

If you choose Connect Google Calendar, Scrolute asks Google for two permissions, separately from signing in. It reads only your free and busy times: when you are busy, with no event titles, guests, locations or other details, and it keeps only the start and end of each busy period. It writes only to a separate calendar called Scrolute that it creates in your account, holding the plans you choose, each with the action, a short summary and the original link. It cannot see or change your other calendars. The refresh token Google gives us is stored encrypted and used only for these two things. You can disconnect in Settings at any time, which revokes the access at Google and deletes the token; events already added stay in your Scrolute calendar until you delete them there. Deleting your Scrolute account does the same.

Scrolute's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Where it is stored and for how long

In a database hosted in Singapore (outside Hong Kong) by our database provider, protected so that each account can read only its own rows. Summaries and transcripts are produced by the outside services listed above, which may process data in other countries. Data is kept until you delete it or your account. We keep no separate backup copies of our own; our database provider may hold short-term operational backups under its own terms, after which deleted data is gone.

Optional uses, only with your permission

Two further uses are off unless you turn them on in Settings, and each choice is recorded with its date. First, de-identified, combined information about what people save (categories, platforms, timing, and whether plans were done) to understand trends and develop new features; it never includes your links, notes or summaries in a form that identifies you, and it is never sold. Second, your saved summaries and notes, with your name and email removed, to improve Scrolute's own sorting and suggestions, which may include training its models. You can withdraw either at any time; withdrawal stops new use from then on. We will not use your data for any other new purpose without asking you first.

Your rights

In Settings you can export all your data as JSON and delete your account and every row immediately. You can also write to support@scrolute.com to ask for a copy of your data or to correct it; under Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance we reply within 40 days. If you live in the EU or UK you also have the rights to erasure, portability and objection, and to complain to your data protection authority. We do not sell personal information.

Children

The service is for people aged 18 or over (18 during the private test). We ask users to confirm this and do not knowingly collect data from younger children.

Third parties' content

Saved links may point to other people's posts. We keep only text derived for your private use, show it only to you, and never republish it. See the copyright and takedown policy.
